Sitting Room Refresh
When we first bought our house, our front door opened right into the living room and there was a bedroom wall to the right. After adding our addition, the contractor told us that building codes stipulated that our septic tank could only handle so many bedrooms. So we opted to knock down that wall at the entrance and open the living space a bit.
Over time we added shelving and housed our extensive board game collection there. Ben had a small desk that he occasionally worked at but that mostly collected random bits and bobs. For the most part the room was underutilized and didn't serve us well when we hosted events.
After going back and forth on what to do with that room we decided to keep things simple and clean it up a bit and make it more cozy. Ben moved his computer back to the maker space room and we discarded the old desk. We found two chairs we liked on Amazon and replaced the old curtains. The little side table is from IKEA, Ben's going to add some Walnut inserts to it to fancy it up a bit. We also ordered little footstools and a new rug is on the list, but not until after the new year.
Now the room is more open and more inviting. When we host events people can be in there, too, and there's room for a folding table and chairs so we have more eating space.
So that's our little house update. No big renovation plans anymore these days. At some point we'll need to get a new well, and the driveway needs to be redone, but we're not in any rush to do those. They're not very exciting!
