I Knit You Not
Sorry for that terrible pun, but it popped into my mind so I had to use it.
Anyway.
I finally picked up my knitting needles again. It's been a long time. I learned when Luke was a baby and I knit a lot of scarves, blankets, wash clothes, diaper covers, etc. After a certain point I felt like I did all of the easy knitting I could do but the boys were little and I just didn't have large chunks of time to learn anything more complex.
But kids DO grow up and I have, if not more time on my hands, exactly, at least children who are old enough to fend for themselves or not fall apart when I say, "In a few minutes."
Thus, the cable stitch has been added to my knowledge bank!
Another pet peeve is knitting for the sake of knitting. I don't need any more scarves or wash clothes. So I was thrilled to find a free pattern for an Ipad holder. We only have one and it's always being fought over. Now, before long, we'll have another!
A word to the wise: don't bother trying this stitch until you have a cable stitch holder. Yes, you can use another needle or a stick or something, but it's an endless headache that you don't need when you're trying to learn a new skill. I knit this entire project before I got around to getting to the craft store!
I'm loving how this looks and am thinking of knitting up a cabled pillow cover next. The possibilities are endless!
