All Things Coffee

Hi, my name is Jenn and I'm an addict. A coffee addict.

It started when I was a teenager. First it was the easy stuff. A splash of coffee with a lot of flavored creamer and a lot of sugar. All of my friends were doing it and it seemed the cool thing to do. I even introduced Ben to it. He kept telling me it was a disgusting habit, but I kept exposing him to it until he finally gave in, too.

Once we both were into it, we started experimenting and before we knew it we could drink it B L A C K. Yeah, hardcore.

Before we knew it, the cheap stuff wasn't cutting it anymore. We needed premium product. Organic, fair trade. The whole deal. Of course, we needed the equipment to go with it, too, which is expensive.

On top of that, we weren't content to just drink it at home. We often sought out coffee when we were out and about. Sometimes we'd even go out of our way to try a new place or new product. People noticed and commented about our obsession. We couldn't hide it any longer.

Luckily, this obsession has a happy ending because it led us to this:

There's now a coffee shop inside our church. Ben and I lead and run it and have been having such a blast. The coffee itself is fair trade and all of the proceeds go right into missions.

The finished project:

I wish I had before and after pics. It was a very bland area before. Beige walls, beige cabinets. Everything has been transformed.

We had our open house back in March and I guess we've grown on people because we're really busy every Sunday and we've been able to give a lot back to missions.

Ben is really in his element.

So this is one of the things that has been taking up so much time lately. I've not been doing much blogging but it's not for lack of things to blog about!

We're grateful to be a part of a church that is so supportive and encouraging when members have an idea. They've been great at overseeing everything and making sure it's all up to standard. It's been an awesome process with fantastic results and we're both so proud and excited to be a part of it all.
