2014 Disney Vacation Day 6: IKEA and Downtown Disney
Ben and Tim started the day off with a Segway tour at the Fort Wilderness lodge. The rest of us got to sleep in!
Once they got back we headed over to IKEA.
Yes, we're IKEA obsessed. Our goal is to go to as many IKEA stores as we reasonably can. We were excited to check this one off our list and Tim and Karen were good sports to go along.
I brought home...
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] This gray throw for the end of our bed.[/caption]
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] Adorable Notecards for framing[/caption]
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] Two green pots[/caption]
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] Two green and white trays[/caption]
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] Two green and black bug dishtowels (sensing a theme?)[/caption]
[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="350"] Potpourri...in green. What else?[/caption]
There were a few other little things, but those were my favorites.
Of course, we ate lunch there, too. :)
Next, we headed over to Downtown Disney.
[caption id="attachment_1547" align="aligncenter" width="502"] Downtown Disney - time to shop![/caption]
[caption id="attachment_1548" align="aligncenter" width="502"] Lego Seamonster[/caption]
Of course we had to stop by the Lego store. They always have fun life-sized figures made out of Legos. This time they had Buzz and Woody, the Hulk, and an entire Lego family.
[caption id="attachment_1549" align="aligncenter" width="502"] Tinker Toys[/caption]
All week we told the boys they could wait to get their souvenirs until DD so we wouldn't have to carry their stuff around the parks. I guess we should have specified that it needed to be Disney-themed stuff. They both ended up getting guns. And Gabe got some Lego characters. Luke, at least, did get a Mickey hat. Goofballs.
I was able to get pins for each park as well as a "Our first visit" Christmas ornament. I really wanted a Belle shirt (my favorite Disney princess) but everything I saw there was too childish. Oh well.
[caption id="attachment_1550" align="aligncenter" width="502"] Stitch[/caption]
I caved and let the boys each get a stuffed panda at IKEA because that's become an IKEA tradition with them: they get a stuffed animal at every IKEA we go to. I had to put my food down on the stuffed Stitch. They sure do look cute holding them.
[caption id="attachment_1551" align="aligncenter" width="502"] Random picture of me![/caption]
Here's a random picture of me, just to prove I didn't have a camera in front of my face at all times. Side note: prior to eating a whole foods diet, I HAD to have sunglasses. All. The. Time. Year round. Sunny days. Cloudy days. I wore them constantly. Now my eyes aren't sensitive to the sun and I don't even own a pair of sunglasses. Looking back at all these photos, though, that sunglasses might have been a good idea. My eyes didn't feel sensitive, but it was bright out and I'm squinting in all my pictures. I look so...pained. Ha!
After our naptime, Tim was still exhausted. We wanted to stay close to the condo so we got all suited up, grabbed our towels, and headed over to the resort waterpark. Only to find they'd closed for the day only about 20 minutes prior. Grr. It seemed silly to just sit around so we decided to spend the evening at Disney's Boardwalk.
Boardwalk doesn't have any ride or shows, but there are a couple of fun street performers and lots of restaurants and shops. The Boardwalk Bakery had yummy gluten-free sandwiches and gluten-free cupcakes! Both street performers were entertaining. The second performer motioned for Gabe to get up and help out and Gabe jumped right up! We were so shocked since he's usually our shy guy. So, so proud of him for trying something new.
At one point, we stopped to watch a caricature artist and Ben said he wanted to get the boys done. It was something he'd always wanted to do growing up.
Easily the best souvenir of the week!
Another wonderful end to another wonderful day!
