Homemade Toothpaste
We really liked Earthpaste, but it's so expensive. Once we'd used up that tube I couldn't bring myself to go back to the regular stuff. I found this homemade toothpaste recipe online and decided to give it a go. I ordered the Free Clay Value Pack from realsalt.com and the peppermint oil from Amazon. I already had the liquid stevia (I've found the chocolate stevia is great in the toothpaste). Once I had all my ingredients assembled, it took no time at all to make up a batch.
The first batch was great, no complaints at all. Even the boys liked it. How many kids can brag that their toothpaste tastes like chocolate mint? For the next batch, I wanted to add some baking soda. I wasn't sure how much to add so I went a bit overboard. Two of the four of us still liked it, but I thought it chafed a bit. For batch number three, I added just 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda as well as two capsules of calcium magnesium supplement. The taste is a bit off, but I like it so far. This is a great solution for those of us who aren't comfortable using mainstream toothpastes, but hate to spend so much on the natural stuff!
